With the sports world completely shutdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak, USA TODAY is counting down the best athletes to wear each uniform number.
Looking back at pros who wore the No. 25, USA TODAY included former San Francisco Giant great Barry Bonds.
The outfielder was dominant when he played for the Giants smashing 586 out of his 762 career home runs during his time in the Bay Area.
Bonds is a seven-time MVP, 14 time All-Star and won 12 Silver Slugger awards. He was a polarizing figure in the sports world, but is beloved by Giants fans for all of his accomplishments.
The Bay Area is well represented on the list. Former Oakland A’s standout Mark McGwire is mentioned, along with San Francisco 49er’s cornerback Richard Sherman and Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
To me, the easy winner is Bonds. His run as a Giant is hard to top and his numbers are just ridiculous.
It’s too bad the Giants came up just short in the 2002 World Series, because winning a title is the only thing missing off of his impressive resume.
