Due to the coronavirus outbreak suspending the 2020 MLB season, we’re rewatching the three San Francisco Giants postseason runs, game-by-game, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 6 p.m. PT, with a gamethread for each.
After pulling out a 3-1 series win over the Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series, the San Francisco Giants are headed to the National League Championship Series, where they face off against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phillies finished the year with a NL-best record of 97-65, which was five games ahead of the next-best Giants. They were coming off consecutive trips to the World Series, including a championship in 2008.
Furthermore, the Phillies were sending the NL Cy Young Award winner to the mound in Game 1 at Citizens Bank Park. All in all, there were a number of factors making Philadelphia the favorites in this series.
But that, as they say, is why you play the games.
We’re starting this rewatch at the same time as all of the rewatches: 6 p.m. PT. I’m embedding the video below, which you can watch in your browser or cast from, or you can find it on YouTube by searching “Giants 2010 NLCS Game 1” and clicking one of the first two links.
