Buster Posey and Hunter Pence took a moment to wish Steph Curry a return to action

Last night, right down the street from Oracle Park, Steph Curry made his return to the Golden State Warriors after a four-month absence due to a broken hand. I can’t tell you how he did, because this version of me is young, dumb, and writing this article on Thursday afternoon.

Oh to be future me, armed with the knowledge of how Curry does in his return to the basketball court. A day older and wiser and more handsomely gray.

Curry is a transcendent athlete, perhaps more popular than any Bay Area athlete ever, and certainly the best pro in the Bay Area sports scene since Barry Bonds.

Which means that his return wasn’t just big for the Warriors, but for all Bay Area fans. So to welcome Curry back to action, the Warriors recruited a few of his local peers, including the two of the most beloved current players on the San Francisco Giants: Buster Posey and Hunter Pence.

Check it out:

Pence saying, “I’m pumped to be back here. I guess you were waiting for me to come back?” is absolutely spectacular.

The Warriors aren’t playing games that are meaningful in the standings and, if we’re being truthful, the Giants probably will join them in that category soon. But for now we have that glorious overlap of baseball and basketball. Enjoy.
