Weekend BP: Full squad szn

Note: The weekend BP will run through Monday this week due to the holiday. The next BP will be at 5:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday.

Perhaps with a team as bad as the San Francisco Giants project to be, it’s not about the wins and losses. Perhaps in a season such as this, maybe the real treasure is the friends we make along the way.

If that’s the case for the Giants, then this is an exciting weekend. Pitchers and catchers have already been in Scottsdale for a few days, but the position players join them on Sunday, when they report. And on Monday? The first full squad workout of the year.

The whole gang is together, from Hunter Pence to Joey Bart to Johnny Cueto to Wilmer Flores to Mauricio Dubon, plus the five million (just a rough estimate) coaches.

It’s when everyone gets together for the first time that optimism most reigns supreme. Some warranted; much not. But it’s all nice to take in.

When everyone hangs out for the first time they get that inevitable feeling that any manner of great things can happen. No losses, inflated ERAs, and cuts have yet popped the optimism balloon.

It’s good stuff.
