The newest name on the 2021 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List is one of the last notable players drafted by the old San Francisco Giants regime: right-handed pitcher Sean Hjelle.
It’s fitting that Hjelle cracked the rankings at No. 11, since that’s how many inches he is taller than six feet. And right now that still kind of feels like his biggest (literally and figuratively) selling point.
Hjelle flipped spots with the person who finished No. 10 on this list, Will Wilson — a year ago they occupied Nos. 10 and 11, but in reverse order. I suppose it’s not exactly surprising that the 2021 CPL is so closely mirroring the 2020 CPL, given that we barely have any new information on any of these players after a canceled year of Minor League Baseball.
So here’s what we’ve got:
The list so far
