The Giants beat reporter for MLB.com is putting his pen away.

Hello and happy Saturday.

Not long ago, the esteemed Henry Schulman — who covered the San Francisco Giants for the San Francisco Chronicle — decided to put away his pen and call it a career. And now his colleague Chris Haft is doing the same, though it’s unclear if it’s a full-time thing.

Haft covered the Giants for MLB.com, and also authored the book “If These Walls Could Talk: Stories from the San Francisco Giants Dugout, Locker Room, and Press Box.” He also co-authored Mike Murphy’s book “From the Stick to the Cove: My Six Decades with the San Francisco Giants.”

I’ve never met Haft, but like most people here, I’ve read a lot of his work. And judging by the reaction from those who have met him, it sure seems like the Giants beat is losing a good one.
