2021 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List #6

Who is the sixth-best prospect in the Giants farm system?

Well, well, well. It would seem that the rise of Luis Matos is continuing. The 18-year old outfielder has been flying up San Francisco Giants prospect rankings of late, and that was reflected by the McCovey Chronicles readers, who gave him 50% of the vote in the fifth Community Prospect List, thus designating him as the fifth-best prospect in the system.

That’s a rise of four spots from last year (despite a draft taking place since then), though it’s worth noting that two of the names ahead of him a year ago have since graduated from the ranks of prospect life.

I don’t think it would surprise anyone if Matos made another leap for the 2022 CPL.

So here’s where we stand:

The list so far

  1. Marco Luciano
  2. Joey Bart
  3. Heliot Ramos
  4. Hunter Bishop
  5. Luis Matos

It’s time to add a sixth name, and we’ve got some new faces this time around.
