Hello and happy Wednesday.
Since the Hall of Fame ballots came out the other day, I’ve been thinking a lot about San Francisco Giants from the past. It seems weird to realize how few players I grew up idolizing will actually be immortalized in the Hall of Fame. It seems weirder still that so many players who were key members of the Giants team that won the World Series three times in five years won’t make it either. Only one — Buster Posey — really has a chance.
But it also doesn’t matter at all, as you’ll be reminded in today’s “old, random MCC article for you to read.”
These players are meaningful to all of us, even though every player means a different thing to every fan. So I’m wondering who your all-time Giants team is? Not the best Giants. Just your favorite ones.
Everyone’s list will be different based on how they view the game, what they value, and when their fandom started. Here’s mine:
1B: Brandon Belt
2B: Ray Durham
3B: Pablo Sandoval
SS: Brandon Crawford
C: Buster Posey
RF: Hunter Pence
LF: Barry Bonds
CF: Marvin Benard
Bench: J.T. Snow, Rich Aurilia, Randy Winn
Starting pitcher: Tim Lincecum
Closer: Rod Beck
Bullpen: Matt Cain, Sergio Romo, Kirk Rueter

Barry Bonds is still not in the Hall of Fame, which is a silly museum that doesn’t deserve your money (Jan. 24, 2018 — Grant Brisbee)

How many days until Opening Day?
There are 134 days until Opening Day.
Have a tremendous Wednesday, and enjoy the NBA Draft if you’re into that kind of thing.
