Hello and happy Sunday.
The American League Championship Series gets underway today, and it features the Houston Astros. The Astros had a surprisingly underwhelming regular season, but have made short work of two quite good teams (the Minnesota Twins and Oakland A’s) to advance to the ALCS.
They’re managed by San Francisco Giants franchise icon Dusty Baker. Baker spent one year playing for the Giants and 10 years managing them, leading them to a National League pennant along the way. He’s now managing his fourth squad, in his 23rd year, and still searching for that elusive World Series win.
He could get it, and under most circumstances that would be nothing but beautiful. But the Astros are ... uhh ... the Astros, and the list of reasons to root for them starts and ends with Baker.
So, are you rooting for the Astros, despite their cheating past? Or are you rooting against them, despite the presence of Baker?
Did Barry Bonds hit a home run today?
No he did not.
