Good morning, McCoven!
In yesterday’s BP, I talked about reevaluating our goals for this season. And I feel like I missed one: Do not rush players back from injury or force them to play through injury, just because you feel like you think they could improve the team.
Guess what? This team is several games out of Wild Card contention with a month left. I don’t think it’s going to happen for them this year. And I’d rather not see them rush Johnny Cueto back this season if he’s not 100% healthy.
Or see them make Pabo Sandoval take at-bats, since we know he will be undergoing Tommy John surgery soon. Obviously it’s a bit different for a position player than a pitcher, but hurt is hurt.
Now, if Pablo is wanting a curtain call, well, I guess I can’t blame him. Especially if it’s his decision, but from all the reports I read, they all mention Bochy wanting to use him as a weapon off the bench. Why? To maybe snatch one more win from the jaws of loss? I don’t get it.
