Pre-game notes:

  • Mike Yastrzemski has swelling in his hand after being hit by a pitch yesterday
  • Abiatal Avelino has been working hard to get some at bats by any means necessary, so that’s why he’s in left field today.
  • Johnny Cueto will start tonight in Sacramento and he once again has a locker in San Francisco, so, his return would seem to be imminent. If not this week, then next, once rosters expand.
  • This happened:

Jarrod Dyson is the batter Tyler Beede has faced the most so far in his career. Dyson is 1-for-9 in 9 plate appearances. He also has a strikeout. Beede has yet to face Giant Menace Wilmer Flores or rookie Josh Rojas, but the rest of the lineup (along with Dyson) is a combined 5-for-29 so far.

Beede has finished five innings just once in his last four starts and hasn’t finished six innings since July 19th, when he pitched eight shutout innings at home against the Mets.
