Homer Bailey no-hit the Giants six years ago and shut them out five years ago. Today marks the first rematch since 2014. Does he still have it in him to befuddle whoever wears a Giants uniform?
He won’t have to worry about Pablo Sandoval, who just landed on the IL with elbow inflammation, but he might see Alex Dickerson as a pinch hitter, as he was the corresponding move to fill the open 25-man roster spot.
A curious note about the Sandoval situation: he was the backup third baseman. Who gets the hot corner if something Evan Longoria gets ejected or something? Has Buster Posey’s time finally come? No.
Most likely, it’s Solano today if something weird happens and over the weekend it could be Green or someone else. The best writers on Twitter note that the Giants have two TBAs for the Arizona series. More roster churn is afoot.
And on that note: the Yankees claimed Ryan Dull, whom the Giants had claimed and then DFA’d in order to add Burch Smith.

It’s an important start for Tyler Beede today. Last time out, he showed his stuff he returned, but he still ran across command troubles and the big inning, which has been his fate so far in a young career.
