Good morning, McCoven!

So, one of the downsides of the team having a really ridiculously great month is that it is bringing out some of the worst instincts in some members of the fanbase and our community. And by community, I don’t mean the majority of active users who interact with each other on a daily basis (or who lurk and comment occasionally) and have for quite some time.

I mean the people who have been coming out of the woodwork to be active trolls and harassers. Which is unacceptable. I think I’ve probably banned more people this month than I’ve had to ban in three seasons. I’m getting threatening emails and direct messages. It’s a lot of fun!

Anyway, I clarified that so that when I take this time to lay out the ground rules for posting on this site, know that I’m not talking about the vast majority of you. Even most of the people who are lurking and only comment now and again are fine.

But, for those who think it’s okay to pop in and drop personal insults about community members or staff, it is not. Those are ad hominem attacks and they are against our community guidelines. For those who think it’s okay to actively target specific community members on this site, it is not. That is harassment and it is against our community guidelines. And you will be banned for these things.

We are all different in the way that we are fans of this team. I might not agree with some of you about what you enjoy about the game, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to be who you are on this site. Even when we frustrate each other with our differences of opinion, we should be able to interact civilly, and at the barest minimum, be able to just not respond rather than say something personally antagonistic. I don’t think that’s too high a bar to set.

Anyway, please keep flagging things that break our community guidelines. I don’t know if I’ve explained how much that helps, so I’ll do that now. When I log on in the morning, I have a place I can go to immediately see which posts have been flagged. Usually, it’s none. But in some cases, like yesterday morning, there were half a dozen. And I was able to immediately spot a problem, rather than trying to wade through all of the threads, which is something I cannot do 100% of the time. So it helps a lot.
