Good morning, McCoven.

Before we get started, I just want to say that I care about and appreciate you all. I don’t think I say that enough to anyone. And nothing makes you reevaluate things like that more than the unexpected passing of a young person.

Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs died yesterday. I’m writing this on Monday afternoon, so there haven’t been further details at this time. But it doesn’t matter how he died. How someone dies generally isn’t important to their overall story, it doesn’t change who they were or the potential for a great and joyful life left unfulfilled. Parents lost a son, a wife lost her new husband. He is mourned by family, friends, teammates and fans alike.

So I guess I think it’s important today to say that regardless of our differences in the way we see things, whether it’s baseball or life, hold tight to the ones you love. Visit those relatives you haven’t seen in awhile. Call those friends you’ve been meaning to call back for longer than you care to admit. You never know when you won’t have the opportunity to do so again.
