Good morning, McCoven!
The dreaded day is upon us at last. A Coors Field double-header. Personally, I think the 18-inning game should have negated the need for such an atrocity, but I don’t make the rules, unfortunately.
I fully expect chaos the likes of which we haven’t seen in a long time. Coors Field is horrendous even when there isn’t a double header. Now the Giants are down a player, despite the 26-man double-header rule, with Evan Longoria’s injury because either he or the team have decided he won’t be going on the DL for it. Dereck Rodríguez will join the team to start the second game, and Jeff Samardzija will start the first.
So basically, hold on to your butts. Things are about to get interesting for this team with wild card aspirations. I won’t say that this series is make or break, since I’m still trying to temper my optimism. But it will be telling as to whether what we’ve been seeing lately is a fluke or if this team might have something going for it.
