Today is the anniversary of a momentous occasion. An occasion that many would describe as one of the nicest in Giants history.
That’s right, today is the three year anniversary of Brandon Belt hitting the 69th Splash Hit! Or Splash 69, as the kids called it. We waited waited nearly two years since Belt hit #68. It was like if a stand-up comic did the set up for a joke only to leave the stage, find himself a wife and kids, and then deliver the punchline as you arrive for his son’s second birthday party.
What I’m saying was that we waited a LONG time for that home run. So, naturally, it came during a game that was played at the same time as an NBA Finals game, so almost no one saw it live. And naturally, in true LOL Belt bad luck fashion, we got only a few days with the splash hit counter before Denard Span hit another one less than a week later.
Oh well. Let’s just watch the video and appreciate the moment that was:
