Giants vs. Rockies, 6/26

Samardzija (4-6, 4.72 FIP) vs. Marquez (7-3, 3.61 FIP)

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at San Francisco Giants Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

Hopefully, we’ve all fully absorbed Bumgarner’s brilliant start last night because it’s Samardzija Time!

One thing about The Shark’s month of June worth watching is that in his four starts, he’s allowed 1, 3, 4, and 5 earned runs (yes in that order). Will he swing back around today to register just 2 earned runs allowed to complete the set or will he go for 6?

The Brandon Belt leadoff experiment generated an 0-for-3 with a strikeout and sacrifice fly, which isn’t exciting, but there you go.

Joe Panik has had a bad June. So bad I didn’t even realize: .227/.289/.280 (.569 OPS) in 83 plate appearances. German Marquez is a dominating presence on the mound and could easily duplicate Jon Gray’s performance from Monday night. that Pillar through Samardzija stretch through the batting order could look brutal today.
