Hi, I know you never read these and you just want to go down to the comments, but before you do, let me tell you about ESPN+, the new streaming service from ESPN*.
Today’s Giants-Diamondbacks game will be streamed on this new platform and you can sign up for a 7-day free trial right here. After that, it’s just $4.99/month for all ESPN original programming and select sports. Specifically, MLB, MLS, and NHL, some PGA Tour events, Top Rank Boxing, Grand Slam tennis from Wimbledon to the US and Australian Opens, and instant access to college sports like basketball, football, softball, lacrosse, and more.
Yes, the streaming wars are here, demanding you either add service after service or JUST READ BOOKS. If you’re a cord cutter who loves live sports and ESPN, $4.99 is a remarkable deal, but I’m not going to tell you how to spend your money. I still have cable.
Anyway, end of ad. Check out ESPN+ if you’re interested.
The biggest news of the night is this:
Johnny Cueto threw 45 pitches in his bullpen today. He’s throwing bullpens twice a week and began mixing in all of his pitches on Tuesday. Says his arm feels “a lot better” than it did even a month ago.

The plan: July-Live BP, August-rehab games, Sept.—Join the Giants
The next biggest news might, hopefully, be another win. In order to do that, the Giants will have to handle Zack Godley again. Godley has been bounced from Arizona’s rotation twice this season and twice he’s been recalled to make an emergency start against the Giants.
Godley was a nemesis at times last season, in particular two starts — one in April, one in August — but beyond that, he’s just 3-4 with a 6.52 ERA in seven starts. His last start of 2019 came back on May 18... against the Giants.
CF — Jarrdo Dyson

LF — David Peralta

3B — Eduardo Escobar
1B — Christian Walker
SS — Nick Ahmed
C — Carson Kelly
SP — Zack Godley
One thing to keep an eye on tonight is to see how Beede handles adversity with Buster Posey catching him behind home plate. Buster is an elite defender back there, but I wonder if his majestic aura only makes the situation more fraught for Beede, who clearly gets flustered at certain points in the game.
Vogt was a steady presence the last two starts. If Beede can keep it together, he’s likely to find an even better advocate and battery mate.
2B — Joe Panik
RF — Mike Yastrzemski
C — Buster Posey
3B — Pablo Sandoval
1B — Brandon Belt
CF — Kevin Pillar
LF — Alex Dickerson
SS — Brandon Crawford
SP — Tyler Beede
