Three years ago, the Giants won an absolute blowout against the Pirates. They won 15-4 and had a MLB-wide season high 22 hits. Almost every player had one, including Jarrett Parker and Ramiro Pena, who came in to let the starters have the rest of the night off and ended up combining to go 4-for-4. Even Trevor Brown had a hit and a run in his lone plate appearance! Angel Pagan hit a grand slam in the grand slam inning!
Just look at this box score!

This is like the opposite of the game we re-visited yesterday. It might even be the last time the Giants ever had fun, that’s unconfirmed. But what we do know is that this was the game where Erik Kratz struck out Brandon Belt in his one inning of work. Julie Parker wrote about that earlier this year, while Kratz was still with the team, but I thought it was worth revisiting, since this is the anniversary. And it’s always fun to read about how the other players like to take the piss out of Brandon Belt.
It’s also worth reading the recap of this game by he-who-must-no-longer-be-named, if only for the excellent gifs.
