Good morning, McCoven! And congrats to all you Sharks and Warriors fans!
Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the first of the dreaded Giants Facebook-only broadcasts. Which prompted this fictional rant by me, imagining the future of trying to find out where you can watch baseball games once they are splintered out across the vastness of the streaming services.
“What channel is the game on, Bob?”
“Well, it should be on NBC Sports Bay Area. Unless there’s a Warriors game, then it will be on The CW. Unless you’re out of market, then it’s on MLB.tv. Unless it’s a Tuesday, then it’ll be on Facebook. Except for every other Sunday when it’s on ESPN. Unless it’s a full moon, and then it’ll be on Twitter. That is as long as we’re not talking about a blue moon, and then it will be on Hulu.”
This reminder prompted me to find out how many Facebook-only games there are this season and there are six. Across all of baseball. So clearly, it was a resounding success. I mean, why wouldn’t it be? Look at this glowing endorsement by Doug.
I’d love to tell you if we’ll have to endure any of those six games, but I couldn’t find a schedule of them. In May. So that, too, is a great sign of success.
