Zack Godley had been demoted to the bullpen, but the Diamondbacks were in need of a starting pitcher, so, who was once a Giants’ nemesis now ascends back to the position he’d lost. This will be a great test of the Giants’ fortitude. Or, maybe, it will simply extend their streak of fecklessness against major league pitching.
In the meantime, Madison Bumgarner will continue to try to build up his trade value. His last two starts haven’t just been good, they’ve been remarkable, reflecting a Bumgarner we haven’t seen in years. He’ll be facing these D’backs:

The Giants will counter with some of their players.
2B — Joe Panik
CF — Steven Duggar
C — Buster Posey
1B — Brandon Belt
3B — Evan Longoria
SS — Brandon Crawford
RF — Kevin Pillar
LF — Mac Williamson
SP — Madison Bumgarner
Watching the 2019 Giants tonight is the bad news. But the good news is that next year’s team figures to be a little more fun... if all goes well with Cueto’s rehab.
