Friday’s home opener was a total dud, but it wasn’t completely devoid of good content! In case you missed it, let’s go through some of the pre-game ceremony highlights, shall we?
Mike Krukow read a speech written by Peter Magowan that was supposed to be for his Wall of Fame ceremony, but he had asked Krukow to read it for him if he weren’t able to do it himself. Magowan sadly passed away shortly before the ceremony was due to take place earlier this year.

Bruce Bochy received a hero’s welcome as he took the field for his final home opener as the skipper for the Giants. The fans showed their appreciation with a lengthy standing ovation, before Bochy threw out the first pitch to Pablo Sandoval.

The Giants honored the legendary Willie McCovey with this tribute video, and Brandon Belt presented his family with a custom first base with McCovey’s jersey number.

Later, after the game seemed unsalvageable, Bay Area royalty E-40 and Baron Davis appeared to lead the crowd in a (likely drunk) rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

Meanwhile, in the press box, it appears they have decided to start using the Buster-clone machine on baseball writers:
