MLB: Colorado Rockies at San Francisco Giants Cody Glenn-USA TODAY Sports

Good Morning, McCoven!

Even before today’s game, the Giants have won their first series of the year, and that calls for a celebration!

Yesterday, Julie Parker of SFBay.ca asked on Twitter if the Rockies were the new Padres, which is actually something I found myself wondering as well. I mean sure, it’s only April. And I rarely ever check the standings in April, but I allowed myself a brief glance today and it is....not good for the Rockies so far.

With all the negativity surrounding the Giants, I would have thought they would have been in last place, but instead you have the 3-12 Rockies who have lost nine of their last 10 games and have the worst record in baseball. Meanwhile, the Padres are leading the West and the Giants are right behind the Dodgers in the middle of the pack. Weird.

I’m not going to get ahead of myself, this is obviously a small sample size, helped greatly for the Giants by a three-game winning streak, but it is a bit sad for the Rockies. If any NL team was going to have an early nose-dive, I would always prefer that it be the Dodgers.
