For your listening pleasure:

We did it! We made it through the darkness of the off-season (mostly). Pitchers and catchers are reporting for duty this week and the rest will be there soon. Everyone is in The Best Shape of Their Lives and ready to fight for a spot on the roster.

Speaking of fighting for a spot on a roster, any roster, unless something changes from the time I write this on Monday afternoon, it looks like the Giants are ACTUALLY in the mix for Bryce Harper. At least according to Yahoo:

It feels like this is what this off-season has been missing: the Giants chasing after their annual white whale that will inevitably get away. It’s no secret that the Giants have not had much success with big name free agents in the last few years. I’m not even going to get started on the hot button issue that is the current state of the free agent market that allowed Harper to be available this late. But I’m trying not to get my hopes up.

Which is not to say that I’m completely ruling it out! Heck, if you’d have told me a month ago the team would even try to get a meeting with him, I would have said you were lying.

That said, it does feel nice to be one of the teams in the mix for a player like Harper. Nice, but also terrible. Because we get to deal with checking our phones for news every five minutes and the constant onslaught of “insiders” trying to splice the inner workings of players’ minds via their Instagram posts.

Not to mention the fake Twitter accounts trying to get clicks by “reporting” the news first. Be careful out there.

And welcome back, baseball activities!
