Thursday BP, 12/5/19

Good morning, friends. Though I can’t really say it’s actually a good morning.

As many of you may already know from the comments on yesterday’s BP or from various social media posts, our dear friend, community member, and contributor Jen Mac Ramos (aka Walkoff Baltimore Chop) was severely injured in a car accident earlier this week. Although the word “accident” seems far too kind of a word for what transpired.

Jen was traveling home after visiting family and was struck by a drunk driver. Jen’s husband, Joshua Eisen, was killed upon impact and Jen is alive but in critical condition, facing a lengthy and difficult rehabilitation due to sustaining extensive and potentially life threatening injuries that could take years to fully recover from.

Jen and Josh were such a young and vibrant couple, beloved by everyone who knew them. They had not quite been married even a year, and they were both working so hard to make a positive impact on the world and planning for a very bright future. A future that has now been stolen from them because someone made the reckless decision to drink without a plan to get home safely. Without a thought for those they could hurt in the process.

Jen’s family started a GoFundMe, and if you are able to, please consider donating what you can. Even though they have surpassed the initial goal (and potentially increased it), I would encourage people to continue to donate because Jen’s recovery is likely going to be lengthy and expensive and they could use all the help they can get. If you can’t donate, please help by sharing the link.

I’m going to see if I can find out which hospital Jen is at so that we can maybe try to do a bit more as a community. I’ll keep you guys updated. In the meantime, please keep Jen and both of their families in your hearts and prayers, if you’re the praying type. The staff of McCovey Chronicles will be doing the same. We love you, Jen.
