Chroncast #87: We were fired

Well, that sucked.

Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants was shell-shocked, not completing the first inning against the NewYork Mets Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in San Francisco, Calif. It was the first time in Cain’s major league career that he was knocked out of a game in t Photo by MediaNews Group/Bay Area News via Getty Images

Hi! This will be the final Chroncast with Bryan & co. There will be a few more episodes to end the year, including an interview with author D.B. Firstman, Craig Goldstein (EIC of Baseball Prospectus), and a final prospects podcast with Roger before . . . it all goes away.

If you saw the news, SB Nation will be converting management of its California team sites, including McCovey Chronicles, from a freelancer model to an employee model in compliance with California’s AB5 law set to go into effect January 1st.

There’s a decent amount of overlap between the new law, SB Nation’s decision, and the current state of the business of baseball, and so where those things overlap, we talk about them. And when they don’t, we talk a little bit about the Giants.

I wanted to have Reuben on separately to discuss labor relations and baseball and save one final Bryan, Doug, and Sami joint for the final episode. It wasn’t meant to be, but it all worked out.

We laugh, we cry, and we say goodbye.

Thank you for listening!

CONTENT WARNING: There is an awful lot of profanity in this episode.
