I know there’s a lot going on right now, and our attention has been pulled in a lot of different directions. But there is still non-Gabe Kapler related Giants happenings to be discussed.
For instance, unless some news has broken between yesterday afternoon and this morning (and given the way news has been breaking lately, it totally might have!) today is the deadline for Madison Bumgarner and Will Smith to let the Giants know their decision about whether or not they will be accepting the team’s qualifying offers. Though it is unlikely either will accept, Smith is the more likely of the two who might.
I’m starting to come to terms with the fact that we might have seen Bumgarner’s last pitch in a Giants uniform. And while that makes me sad, I find it best to prepare for the worst so that you can only either be right or pleasantly surprised. That’s kind of where I’m at this week, we’ll see how my disposition improves as the off-season goes on.
