Weekend BP, 11/1-11/3

Good morning, McCoven!

Well, the long, dark and scary off-season is finally upon us. There’s no baseball to watch, no games to celebrate. Nothing to keep us going but the hot stove. And if the last couple of season are any indication, the stove isn’t as hot as it used to be.

Madison Bumgarner and Will Smith are now free agents, and Tony Watson may join them soon. Monday will be the day that the Giants must extend qualifying offers to both Bumgarner and Smith, as well the day that Watson will announce if he will pick up his player option.

Meanwhile, the Giants are moving forward with their hunt for a new manager, and we may have more news on that next week. At the same time, Bochy’s coaches are beginning to move on to other opportunities. I can’t help but feel that by the time spring training rolls around, this team will be nigh on unrecognizable. But, that’s the way it goes.
