Good morning, McCoven! And Happy Halloween!
Last night, the five scariest words in baseball in the year 2019 were uttered, “Gerrit Cole is warming up.” It struck fear in the hearts of Nationals fans, and all those who were rooting for them for whatever reason.
And yet, it never came to be. And the Washington Nationals are World Series Champions for the first time in franchise history! We would like to congratulate the Nationals on their success, and thank them for a number of things. 1.) Beating the Dodgers. 2.) Representing the National League in the World Series and doing so admirably. 3.) Being only the second team ever, after the 2014 Giants, to win the wild card game and go on to win the World Series.
What a magical run they had, and it has been an absolute joy going along for the ride. I can’t think of a more fun team to have been able to root for in the playoffs over the last several years.
And to make everything about me for a second, I CORRECTLY predicted this outcome a week and a half ago when the SBNation MLB staff wrote our series predictions. Your move, Brisbee.
