Good morning, McCoven!

If you’re looking for a little good news this morning, you’ve come to the right place! Former and Forever Good Giant Hunter Pence has been named as a finalist for the 2019 American League Comeback Player of the Year!

We all remember Pence’s farewell to San Francisco at the end of the 2018 season, when his future in the game seemed uncertain. After a few rough seasons with the Giants, he was headed off to play winterball and work on his swing. I don’t know that any of us could have predicted the turn his career would take after that.

Pence signed on a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers, got an opportunity to play for the big club and tore it up in the 83 games he played for them this season. He hit 18 home runs and sported a .297 average.

The winners will be announced next week. Best of luck to our favorite scooter-riding alien overlord.
