This Saturday is the ceremony for Barry Bonds’ jersey number retirement. If you are heading to the game, there are a couple of things you should know. Gates will open at 3:45 pm and the first 20,000 fans will receive a commemorative hat.
The ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm and will feature appearances from all of the Giants Hall of Fame members (Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Orlando Cepeda, Juan Marichal and Gaylord Perry), Bonds’ former managers (Jim Leyland, Dusty Baker and Bruce Bochy), former teammates (Robb Nen, Kirk Rueter, Will Clark, Royce Clayton, Eric Davis and Bobby Bonilla).
So, get there early and be in your seats by 5:00 pm. The Giants don’t retire jersey numbers very often, so they will be sure to pull out all of the stops for this event.
