It’s an off day, which means a chance to catch up on things you’ve been putting off and start the week without any distractions. I mean, if you’re like me, when the Giants are on, I get substantially less work done than when they’re not.
Also, if you’re like me, then you’re itching to get out to AT&T Park at least once this year, and as much as I’d planned to go to the Bonds jersey retirement ceremony on August 11th, due to unforeseen circumstances, I’m now circling that Star Trek Night on August 31st. Join me in spending the day searching StubHub for the best deals on tickets throughout the rest of the season.
Not only do the Giants return home this Thursday to take on the Brewers, they’ll be honoring Matt Cain, Ryan Vogelsong, and Brian Wilson this Saturday with a Wall of Fame ceremony. The Giants are marking 60 years of history in San Francisco with more history, and it seems to me as a Giants fan that I need to be a part of at least one of these events.
But if you’re not going to do the StubHub thing and you just want to watch some baseball, then consider watching this 30 year old Game of the Week where the Giants took on the Cardinals. At some point, you’ll see a commercial in here for a Schick Ultrex Plus razor blade and wonder how we ever made it out of the eighties. Having lived through them, I can honestly answer that we’ll never totally know for sure how it happened.
And if you’re wondering, I believe this was the game before the Ozzie Smith-Jose Oquendo-Will Clark fracas.
