With the final pick of Day 2, and stop me if you’ve heard this before, the Giants select a right handed pitcher. This time, it’s Alex DuBord from Faulkner University in Alabama at #286.
The NAIA level school competed in the NAIA World Series as the top seed, but was eliminated in the semifinal round. That game wasn’t ideal for DuBord, who gave up six runs in three inning of work in relief, coming into a game where his team had already given up eight runs.
The quick scouting report on Alex DuBord is that his fastball runs between 89-92 MPH, and can touch 94, and that he has a slurvy breaking ball. This season with Faulkner, he had a 7-1 record and a 4.01 ERA with 55 strikeouts and 14 walks in 51.2 IP.
Faulkner lettered in baseball, football and hockey while playing for Fargo South High School in Fargo, N.D.
And…there’s not much else out there on this young man. I was able to find this video of him from high school, which I can not embed, and here’s a video from earlier this year:

He…might want to consider a new Twitter handle for the pros.
