I’m posting the following because I could not find any video of Kurt Ainsworth pitching for the Giants in 2003, which is one of my strongest memories from that season for some reason.
#OTD in 2003, @SFGiants slugger @BarryBonds stole his 500th career base, becoming the only player in MLB history to join the 500/500 club. Not to be forgotten, Bonds also notched 251 of his 514 stolen bases as a member of the @Pirates. https://t.co/stAQGmNcSO— MLBPAA (@MLBPAA) June 23, 2018
Unfortunately, there’s no video of how Bonds stealing that base made him the winning run just two batters later, when Benito Santiago singled off of Eric Gagne (it’s true!).
What an odd game for the Giants. Tim Worrell blew a 2-0 lead in the the 9th and Giants pitching recorded 0 strikeouts for the game.
