Baseball’s beloved Andrew McCutchen hit the ball hard for most of the weekend in his return trip to Pittsburgh but found a glove or the warning track too many times. The loyal crowd there probably deserved to see McCutchen’s latest milestone in person. But instead, McCutchen gifted the Giants fans in attendance tonight with being there for his personal history.

His 1,000th career hit was a little over 3 years ago and it came against the Cubs’ Edwin Jackson in Chicago. Hit it right off the base of the brick wall in center field at Wrigley. This one, against the Reds’ Sal Romano, rolled nearish the bullpen mound down the third base line, meaning that his milestone hits have an element of danger to them.
Congratulations, Andrew McCutchen!
