Ten things you can do during the rain delay

Or you can just sit there and stare into space, pining for baseball

MLB: San Francisco Giants at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Per Dave Flemming’s last update, as soon as they had planned to start taking the tarp off of the field to start getting ready to play, they played “Purple Rain” by Prince. As soon as the guitar came in, the skies opened back up and started pouring. So we are back in a delay. Here are some things you can do in the meantime:

10. Laundry

Look, everyone has to do laundry and I bet you’re behind on yours. Why don’t you go get some started?

9. Pay your bills

Paying your bills is about as tedious as sitting there waiting for the game to start, so you might as well be productive.

8. Read up on the election

If you live in California, there’s a Statewide Direct Primary election in June, you can take this time to read the voter information guide. And if you aren’t registered, you can still do so until May 21st. If you aren’t sure if you’re registered to vote, visit voterstatus.sos.ca.gov.

7. Go for a walk

If you have dogs, take them for a walk! If you have a cat, strap that thing into a harness and make the neighbors judge you. If you don’t have any pets, take your kids for a walk. If you don’t have kids, well, take yourself for a walk. It’s nice in California today. Unlike Pennsylvania. Enjoy the weather.

6. Clean

Make a game out of it. Clean one room before the next rain delay update. And see if you can clean another room before the next one. You’ll have a clean house before you have baseball!

5. Take a nap

This is clearly the best option, but you risk oversleeping and missing the game.

4. Go put gas in your car

Might as well save yourself a trip on Monday morning.

3. Indulge in an adult beverage

I am lucky enough to be writing this from the bar that is next to my house. You may not live next to a bar, but you can indulge in a beer or cocktail to make the waiting a little more fun.

2. Watch other baseball games

I mean, technically you don’t have to wait for baseball, it’s being played all over the country. Watch a different game.

1. Get your mom a present

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, make sure you didn’t forget your mom, wife, grandmother, mother-in-law, etc. or whichever applies to you.

See, there’s plenty to do and baseball will be back before you know it! Feel free to post your own suggestions in the comments.
