The Giants are facing a pitcher they’ve never seen before...

MLB: San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Angels Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Jaime Barria is a 21-year old right hander the Giants have never seen before, which could mean trouble for the final game of this series. Here’s the lineup:

What’s noteworthy about this is the four lefties in a row from #8-#2 in the order. Barria has only one ML start, but in it, lefties were 0-for-12 in plate appearances with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

Bruce Bochy has no pattern, it seems, when it comes to splits. Lefties can hit righties, but lefties can’t hit lefties; but an 0-for-12 against a rookie isn’t an 0-for-12 versus a veteran.

I still thinm switching handedness as often as possible regardless of the starters’ handedness is the most effective way to handle an inconsistent lineup. Will my dream of Panik, McCutchen, Belt, Posey, Longoria, Williamson, Crawford, Jackson ever happen?

The Angels’ only lefty reliever is José Alvarez... expect to see him today.
