In the meantime, as we wait for any significant Giants news, let’s take a quick look at what’s already happened:
- The Giants claimed OF Mike Gerber off waivers from the Tigers.
- Claimed LHP Travis Bergen and OF Drew Ferguson in the Rule 5 Draft.
- Signed Pat Venditte to a 1-year major league deal.
The 25-man roster looks like this at the moment:

Hope is not lost, however. We’ll know before the end of the week where Yusei Kikuchi has signed, and there’s a nonzero chance it’ll be with the Giants. And the Giants didn’t trade for Andrew McCutchen and sign Austin Jackson as a free agent last season until the middle of January. So... anything can happen, even though it looks like very little is going to happen where the Giants are concerned.
