Well, to not much surprise, Heliot Ramos, last year’s #1, takes #2 for the San Francisco Giants 2019 Top Prospect list.
I will add a little commentary to this, I’m a tad surprised at the margin. Ramos got almost 80% of the vote, and while I expected him to win, I thought the margin might be a little lower.
I’m also surprised by the 2nd place vote-getter…Shaun Anderson, outdoing the young and hyped Marco Luciano. Maybe I shouldn’t be, seeing that Anderson is #3 in two of the professional lists...but the community list always has a different view.
So, then there were 4…Here are your next candidates; remember, the first name links to their stats on Baseball Reference, the last name goes to their Fangraph page.
Marco Luciano
Who will be the #3 prospect? Will it be Shaun Anderson, a pitcher who has a good shot to make his major league debut this year? Will it be Marco Luciano, one of last season’s top international free agents but who hasn’t played a pro game yet? Will the young power arm of Gregory Santos come in and steal the show? Or will a hopefully healthy Logan Webb come up after his impressive return from Tommy John surgery in 2018?
Finally, let’s discuss nominations. I’m going to try and make the first comment today our Nomination post (it may be a couple down, depending on if I can get away from work in that moment). Remember the rules of nominations:
1. Look at the names people have replied to the comment. If you see someone you want in the next poll, rec that comment.
2. If you do not see a player you’d like to have included, reply only to the Nomination comment with their name so others can vote for him. (Replies not to the Nomination comment, and their votes, will be ignored.)
3. You can rec as many player names as you like.
4. The players with the top 4 rec totals will be included in Tuesday’s poll.
Got it? Good. Let’s get a-voting!
