Yesterday, the A’s announced plans for a new ballpark, along with a plan to reinvigorate the area around the old Coliseum:
#Oakland A's unveil 'jewel box' ballpark for waterfront, but also have big plans for reinventing #Coliseum. Here’s a sneak peak. https://t.co/el0XbRAo7F

I know there are a lot of complexities to the issue that I’m not going to get into because the battle for a new ballpark in Oakland is long and storied.
But I, for one, am excited about the prospect of a new baseball park for the Oakland A’s. Oakland sports fans are basically being abandoned by two of their teams, so the organization investing in a nice new home would be a good thing for A’s fans and fans of baseball, and hopefully for the city of Oakland.
Will it work out that way? Who knows! If it happens, it will still be a long way off, and many things could change along the way. But I know that I would visit that ballpark. I probably would have gone to quite a few more A’s games in my life if it weren’t for the Coliseum and the awful experiences I’ve had there.
And honestly, A’s fans deserve something nice.
