The Red Sox did two tremendous things this past weekend: 1) stopped the Dodgers from winning the World Series and 2) gave Giants fans a guide for how to turn this whole thing around and be good again.
After their last world championship in 2013, Boston has two losing seasons and then two winning seasons before this year’s ridiculously winning season. The Giants are coming off a four-year stretch that’s in reverse of Boston’s and that’s reason enough to believe the situations are not comparable, but!
The Red Sox have won four World Series in 14 years and three front office retooling. At no point in franchise history have the Giants gone more than four seasons with a losing record — they might set a new mark in the 21st-century, however, but that doesn’t mean that three years from now we won’t be looking at a real contender. Now all the team needs is a new front office.
Anyway, thanks Red Sox. That was swell.
