Ron Wotus totally listened to Blue Öyster Cult in high school, and here’s proof

The Giants’ bench coach, as you’ve never seen him before.

While I’ve had fun going through Google.com’s newspaper archives in the past, this seems more important. Thanks to KNBR’s Brian Murphy, we know this important picture of Giants bench coach Ron Wotus exists.

I can’t stop staring at it. Seasons don’t fear the reaper, nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, or Ron Wotus. The full newspaper article is here, and we also learned that he got Bs and Cs when he was a freshman. Tsk, tsk.

Anyway, this is what Ron Wotus looks like now, for perspective:

That was a man who was ordered online from BaseballCoachDirect.com (free shipping and anecdotes on orders over $500). He has always looked like that. He will always look like that. He is eternally baseball coach.

But now we have evidence that he wasn’t born a baseball coach. Sometimes, he just wanted to drive around in a GTO and hang out with Wooderson. So thanks to Brian Murphy for passing along this find. Been waiting years to get some kind of contribution out of someone with that name.
