Tonight is Game 1 of the World Series we’ve feared for decades. Our favorite baseball squadron, the Houston Astros, take on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In record breaking Los Angeles heat, Dallas Keuchel will face off against Clayton Kershaw tonight in a battle for our very souls. Well, no, that will come later in an elimination game. But it’s still important that Keuchel succeed.
I mean, let’s be honest, if the Dodgers win, they deserve it. They were very good this year. But we can still root against them because it’s Good For The Rivalry.
Not only that, but Houston has had a bad year. Winning the World Series wouldn’t undo the damage they suffered during Hurricane Harvey, but it would be something nice for the city as they work to rebuild. So there are good reasons to root for them aside from the fact that they are the not-Dodgers.
On the other hand, there is a Rohnert Park native on the Dodgers and considering the amount of stress and devastation the North Bay has been dealing with, it might be nice to root for the local boy.
On the other, other hand he grew up an A’s fan, so it’s still okay to root for the not-Dodgers.
Game 1 starts at 5:00 pm on Fox.
