Norichika Aoki placed on 7-day concussion list, Ryan Lollis recalled

Every team has injuries, but the Giants sure have more problems with baseballs being thrown at them than the average team.

During last weekend's Cubspacalypse, Norichika Aoki was hit in the helmet with a 93-mph fastball from Jake Arrieta. He missed a game, enjoyed an off day, and then backed into a wall in his next game, which brought some of the dizziness back. On Thursday, the Giants placed Aoki on the 7-day concussion list, recalling outfielder Ryan Lollis.

One of these days, the Giants will have a lineup that looks like this:

  1. Norichika Aoki - LF
  2. Joe Panik - 2B
  3. Matt Duffy - 3B
  4. Buster Posey - C
  5. Hunter Pence - RF
  6. Brandon Belt - 1B
  7. Brandon Crawford - SS
  8. Gregor Blanco - CF

And it will be glorious. Look at all those major league hitters, all stacked up at once. Maybe they'll move Pence and Duffy around to get rid of the LLRRRLLL construction, but you get the point. What a wonderful dream.

Until then, the Giants will have a couple sketchy hitters in every lineup and hope that their starting pitchers do good things. Good luck, fellas!

Ryan Lollis was recalled, and hopefully he will get a hit and avoid Moonlight Grahaming. The 28-year-old was 0-for-5 in his first run with the Giants, but he hit .315/.353/.433 in Triple-A after he was sent down. He's hitting .343 between Double-A and Triple-A this year. Hopefully he can flip a bunch of singles for the next week.

Considering that Aoki passed the first set of concussion tests, it's hard to imagine that it's time for panic and doom, but concussions are just about the worst, so hold a good thought. The Giants can get by without him. But they're a whole lot more interesting with him.
