The bold, new direction for the Giants' international efforts is official.

We heard last week that top international prospect Lucius Fox was signing with the Giants, but I'm always nervous until the deal is official. What if another team swoops in? Is it LexCorp? I'll bet LexCorp is the one with the bigger offer. Don't trust them, Lucius!

The Giants announced the deal on Wednesday, and the young shortstop will even be at AT&T Park today. That seems pretty official. The Giants also announced all of their signings so far, some of which I knew about, and some of which I'm finding out about for the first time. Here's the table from the original press release:

Name DOB Position Country Home Ht Wt B/T
Fox, Lucius 7/2/1997 SS Bahamas Nassau, BAH 6'1 175 S/R
Adames, Abel 12/8/1995 RHP Dominican Republic La Vega, DR 6'6 190 R/R
Batista, Robinson 10/11/1998 SS Dominican Republic Dajabon, DR 5'11 160 S/R
De Leon, Wascar 1/8/1998 SS Dominican Republic Santiago, DR 5'11 198 S/R
Figueroa, Miguel 8/9/1997 RHP Dominican Republic Santiago, DR 6'2 165 R/R
Herrera, Joan 12/8/1998 RHP Dominican Republic Puerto Plata, DR 6'1 180 R/R
Labour, Franklin 5/11/1998 OF Dominican Republic Los Frailes, DR 6'1 190 R/R
Marte, Jose 6/14/1996 RHP Dominican Republic Santiago, DR 6'3 180 R/R
Suarez, William 3/21/1998 RHP Dominican Republic Azua, DR 6'3 175 R/R
Pinto, Oliver 9/4/1996 RHP Panama Tocumen, PA 6'0 175 R/R
Castro, Kervin 2/7/1999 RHP Venezuela Aragua, VZ 5'11 170 R/R
Genoves, Ricardo 5/14/1999 C Venezuela Caracas, VZ 6'2 190 R/R
Gutierrez, Nishell 5/4/1999 C Venezuela Cojedes, VZ 5'10 165 S/R
Labrador, Jorge 3/9/1999 RHP Venezuela Zulia, VZ 6'1 180 R/R
Rincones, Diego 6/14/1999 OF Venezuela Bolivar, VZ 6'0 175 R/R

And here's a ranking of the top five names from this class.

  1. Lucius Fox
  2. JORGE LABRADOR
  3. Abel Adames (relieving a Matt Cain start only)
  4. Franklin Labour
  5. Kervin Castro (amazing pitcher name)

Hopefully, the Giants aren't done, considering they're already giving up their ability to sign a premium international prospect next year by blowing through their spending cap. Eddy Martinez is the new name to get used to.

A couple of videos for a pair of players that haven't been covered here, starting with Wascar De Leon:

Miguel Figueroa:

Most of these players won't make the majors, but here's hoping for 15 superstars, all of whom make Dodgers fans bitter and jealous for two decades.
