My apologies for the late post after some technical difficulties. I assure you, future minor lines this week will be better timed. Tomorrow's post will include more videos and links and updates from around the farm!

I really want to say that Gary Brown made his return to the Giants' AAA home, but he never had gotten the opportunity to fail in Sacramento as a RiverCat. Take solace in the fact that, facing the Giants, he simply went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts on top of a punchless Bees attack. Nik Turley had his second straight scoreless start of six innings, and he's finding his footing in AAA. The eight strikeouts were a a season-high, and it gives him 28 on the season in AAA, in 34.2 innings. Cody Hall's three inning save is his longest appearance since May 1st, and he had three appearances of three innings in April and May of the season. He has a 1.17 ERA over his last ten appearances.
Ryan Lollis moved from center to left to cover Jarrett Parker, but that didn't bother him from keeping on his hot streak, getting on base three times. He's batting 15-for-27 (.556) over the last six games, with three walks on top of that. Jarrett Parker left the game after the first inning, after striking out swinging to end the bottom of the first. Darren Ford got to go in when Parker left, and he was ready, grabbing a multi-hit game and his 18th stolen base of the season. Ford has been hot, going 12-for-34 over the last ten games, a .353 batting average. Former Major Leaguer Ronnie Cedeno had his third two-hit game over the last five games for the RiverCats.

Tyler Beede, L, 1-3 | 7.0 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4.15 |
Tyler Beede had a fine game, returning to a form his had before a pair of subpar starts in mid-June. It was his third game in his last six games for him to go seven innings, though it was also his third game in his last five with three walks. But one run was enough to take the loss with the weak Richmond offense. Engel Beltre did continue his recent streak of solid hitting, though hit was only his second multi-hit game in the last seven. Meanwhile, Hunter Cole has been excellent since his callus to Double-A. In three games, he's gone 5-for-9, with a triple, and he's neither walked nor struck out.

Jake Smith, S, 1 | 1.0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2.63 |
The Giants' 2013 first rounder had his best day of the year, with a perfect 5-for-5 performance, adding two doubles to his season total of 15. The five hits were a career high at any professional level. He also now has four doubles in his last three games. Angel Villalona had his best game in some time, collecting three hits with a double. Since coming down to San Jose, Villalona's 4-for-16, with today's double his only extra-base hit. Daniel Carbonell had his second two-hit game since returning to San Jose. He's 6-for-19 in his five games since returning. Ryder Jones left the game after a pair of at-bats, leaving after striking out swinging. Juan Perez, who was DHing, was hitless in his first game of rehab.
Tommy Hanson made just his first appearance of the season, all in San Jose. The 28-year old has been solid, going five innings in three of the four games. Hanson was robbed of the win, but Jake Smith picked up the save. It's Smith's first save of the season in what has been a good season for him. Over the last ten games, he's giving up just one run in 17.1 innings.

Dusten Knight | 1.1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1.60 |
Samuel Coonrod helped the second shutout of the Giants' system today. He had his first outing without allowing a run in his last four. He had a string of three such outings in late May. The former fifth-round pick has also gone at least six innings six times in his last nine games. Dustin Knight combined with Rudolfo Martinez to finish off the shutout. Knight has been steady all season, with just a .197 average against, and a 0.98 WHIP.
The offense showed a little power, particularly behind Aramis Garcia, who had a rare 3-hit game. Garcia has been getting better, batting .310 over the last ten games, but this was his first home run since having two in two days on June 17th and 18th. Dylan Davis had his second home run in the last four games, and his first three-hit game since making it to Augusta.

Nolan Riggs | 5.2 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.00 |
This one could've gone better, but Spokane broke out for eight runs in the 7th and 8th, negating a fine start for Nolan Riggs. The 6'8" Riggs had gone 4+ innings in two relief appearances with the Volcanoes already this season, and in 14.2 innings, he has yet to give up an earned run (the unearned run in this start was his first).
The offense was powered by Steven Duggar, hitting his first home run of his career, in his second game. The sixth-rounder has gone 3-for-7 in his first two games. C.J. Hinojosa had his second two-hit game in six games so far, and he has taken just one strikeout with one walk over those games.

Luis Pino, W, 2-0 | 5.0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1.84 |
When someone tells you that a reliever had as many strikeouts as a starter, you'd assume the reliever did it in far less innings, wouldn't you? Well, Jordan Johnson went just three innings in his start, picking up six strikeouts. Notably, out of three starts this season, it's Johnson's longest start so far. He has struck out 10 in six innings, and has yet to walk a batter. Luis Pino, meanwhile, had his third relief outing of about five innings, and this was his best time out yet. He gave up only one hit and no walk. This is 20-year old Pino's third run at the AZL, returning after having a 6.07 ERA last season.
Jalen Miller, the 3rd round pick out of high school, had his third two-hit game out of five he's played. He's picked up a hit in each game, though he's still looking for his first extra-base hit. He's 8-for-21 over his first five games. Meanwhile, Dillon Dobson powered the win with his second-straight game of two hits, and this time with two doubles. The 23rd rounder has a .545 slugging percentage with four doubles and a triple in five games.

Alejandro De La Rosa, H, 1 | 1.2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.00 |
Fabian's four-hit game was his best in quite some time, powering the Giants' attack, knocking in one run and scoring another himself. It raised his batting average from .237 to .265. Batting leadoff, Manual Geraldo continued to use his speed to lead the team, with two stolen bases giving him 12 on the season in 15 attempts. Medrano remained hot, as he has gotten on base in each of his last ten games, but his three hits tonight were his most in of the streak. Jose Rivero's two-hit game was his first multi-hit game of the last nine.
Starter Sandro Cabrera had his first scoreless outing since his first start of the season. His ERA dropped from 3.46 to 2.81, though he tied a season-low with just four strikeouts. De La Rosa, made his fourth relief appearance of the season, but though the 1.2 innings was his shortest so far, he has yet to give up a run. He has held opposing hitters to just a .083 batting average.
