So how will the Giants lose 4-3 on an eighth inning home run today? I, for one, can't wait to find out!
It's Time to Un-Retire the Numbers
The Yankees have a problem, so it's time for baseball to make up a bunch of rules in order to help the Yankees get out of their problem that no one else caused. They have so many retired numbers that it's hard to find regular baseball numbers for new players to wear, so instead of just giving players offensive lineman numbers, the simpler situation seems to be to completely change what retiring a number even means. It's common sense, really.
2015 MLB All-Star Game hats leaked
Hey, here's an ugly new thing for Major League Baseball to market! Are you excited to look at these hats during the Home Run Derby, think they shouldn't exist, and then forget about them within a week? You should be! Now, there is an excuse for them to exist, which is that since the All-Star Game and festivities are being held in Cincinnati, the caps should commemorate the look of some of the classic Reds caps. I didn't say it was a good excuse. I said it was an excuse.
UPDATE: IGNORE ALL OF THAT IT WAS A HOAX. I TRUSTED YOU, WHEREVER I GOT THE NEWS FROM. I TRUSTED YOU AND YOU LET ME DOWN. YOU KNOW WHO BROKE THE STORY? DARREN ROVELL. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED THAT BECAUSE OF YOU, DARREN ROVELL WAS TEMPORARILY USEFUL. ASHAMED.
For the Best Hotel Deals, Ask a Mets Journeyman
Because it helps them save money, a small contingent of Mets players have taken to renting a new hotel room every night, claiming it saves them $200 a night. It seems to me that they're sacrificing a lot in the name of saving some money, but if they're enjoying the city and feeling good about their financial decisions, then hey, maybe that's providing a boost to their play in New York just like a regular Met who actually goes home every night. Good for them for being innovators, is what I say, as I idly wonder if there are any Giants players who do the same thing. San Francisco's expensive too, and it's not like Jean Machi has any idea how long he'll be staying. Why not live it up at the Travelodge at Market and Valencia? You only live once!
MLB's Culture Clash, or Why Baseball is Boring
I wouldn't say I agree that baseball is boring – I find baseball quite interesting, which is why I write for a popular Giants blog! – but all the unwritten rules and weird respect stuff and insistence by the old school guys that no one should ever act excited about anything is silly, and I'd be pretty happy if it stopped. Give me bat flips. Give me ALL the bat flips.
