Listen to this Willie McCovey radio tribute from 1980

This is the best podcast in history, and it was invented before pods.

There is no Giants baseball today. A year ago, the Giants were getting AT&T Park ready for Game 3 of the World Series. Three years ago, the Giants were getting AT&T Park ready for Game 1 of the World Series. Five years ago, Brian Wilson made the best pitch in baseball history. But today, there is nothing.

Weather's getting colder in the mornings, too.

Getting dark later.

However, not all is lost! There are still YouTube rabbit holes to fall into, and this is one of my favorites in a while, a KNBR tribute to Willie McCovey after he announced his retirement. The opening is so perfect:

Goodbye, Willie! And goodbye to me ... when I was young.

Apparently, "Willie McCovey is retiring, and we're all going to die one day" didn't have the same ring. The tribute is about 20 minutes long and the commercials aren't included, which is a missed opportunity to check out what the Kars 4 Kids of 1980 was, but it's filled with Hank Greenwald-voiced highlights. That's always a good way to spend a few minutes.

While this is something you can listen to in the background while you work, scroll through the pictures that play with the tribute if you get a chance. There are some stellar shots of programs, cards, et cetera.

McCovey retired, the park is gone, and that kid's hair fell out. But it's still a good picture.

Bonus cameo: Nick Swisher's dad at 0:27. Or "Papa Bro", as he's affectionately known. By me.
