Thursday highlight from the Giants' farm: Daniel Carbonell had three hits.

AA: Richmond lost to Akron 5-1
(allowing all five runs over the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings to even the best-of-five series at 1-1)

Richmond: CF Daniel Carbonell: 3 for 4, 2B, CS
Richmond: SS Kelby Tomlinson: 2 for 4, 2B, 2 SO, SB

Richmond: SP Jack Snodgrass: 4.2 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 2 HB, 1 WP
Richmond: RP Kyle Crick: 1.0 IP, 1 BB, 3 K
Richmond: RP Phil McCormick: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Batting leadoff, Carbonell doubled and twice singled to provide half of the Flying Squirrels' six hits.  Tomlinson also had two hits, but the remaining seven Squirrels in the lineup were just 1 for 22 with 11 SO.

Snodgrass experienced one of his least effective starts this year, allowing over half his batters (14 of 26) to reach base.  It's a bit surprising he pitched into the 5th inning allowing that many baserunners, but in the first three innings he benefited from two double plays and stranded six baserunners.  He had allowed as many as 9 H just twice in 22 starts this year.  Pitching in relief, Crick struck out three of his four batters in the 7th inning.  He threw 11 of 20 pitches for strikes.  McCormick had 2 K in a perfect 8th inning.
