Sunday highlights from the Giants' farm: Ty Blach had 7.0 scoreless IP, Joan Gregorio allowed just 1 R in 6.0 IP, and Tyler Horan homered and doubled.  Also notable, Michael Santos and Julio Pena had strong performances in the AZL semifinal.

AAA: Fresno lost to Tacoma 7-3

Fresno: 1B Mark Minicozzi: 2 for 4, 2B
Fresno: RF Jarrett Parker: 2 for 4, 2 2B, 2 SO

Fresno: SP Jake Dunning: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K--2 HR

With two hits each, Minicozzi and Parker combined for over half of the Grizzlies' seven hits.

After beginning the season with 35 relief appearances, including one in the majors, Dunning finished his minor league season with four starts.  He had a 4.57 ERA in 65.0 IP this year in the PCL.

AA: Richmond defeated Binghamton 1-0

Richmond: RF Myles Schroder: 2 for 3, SB

Richmond: SP Ty Blach: 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 K

Schroder was the game's lone hitter with two hits, and he scored the game's lone run in the 8th inning.  He has a .252 AVG.

Blach finished his season strong.  In his second pro season, he had a 3.13 ERA in 141.0 IP over 25 starts.  After leading the Cal League last year in ERA, he ranks fifth in the Eastern League this year.

A+: San Jose lost to High Desert 9-6
(allowing four runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings)

San Jose: CF Daniel Carbonell: 3 for 5, SO, CS
San Jose: DH Ryan Lollis: 3 for 5
San Jose: LF Tyler Horan: 2 for 4, HR, 2B, SO
San Jose: RF Chuckie Jones: 1 for 4, HR, 2 SO

San Jose: SP Jake Smith: 1.2 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 1 BB, 2 K--2 HR

Horan connected for his 24th HR this year, and Jones his 15th HR.  In the top two spots in the lineup, Carbonell and Lollis each had three hits.

Making his first start this year after 50 relief appearances, Smith allowed nearly two thirds of his batters (9 of 14) to reach base.

A-: Augusta lost to Charleston 5-0

Augusta: 2B Jeremy Sy: 1 for 3, BB

Augusta: SP Joan Gregorio: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 10 K--3 WP, 1 BK

Sy reached base twice for the GreenJackets, who had just three hits (all singles) and four walks, plus a hit batter.

Gregorio had more than 7 K for just the second time this year.  His component stats this year include 77 H, 40 BB, and 92 K in 90.2 IP.

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Boise 4-3 (10 innings)

Salem-Keizer: RF Shilo McCall: 2 for 5, 2B, SO

Salem-Keizer: SP Tyler Beede: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Salem-Keizer: RP Eury Sanchez: 1.0 IP, 2 K

With his 13th double and a single, McCall had two of the Volcanoes' five hits.  He has just a .199 AVG, but half his hits have gone for extra bases (16 XBH and 32 H in 161 AB).

Beede had a career high 5 K in his sixth pro start.  Sanchez had 2 K in a perfect 10th inning for his 14th save.

(winning the semifinal matchup)

Scottsdale: 3B Jonah Arenado: 2 for 3, 2B, HBP
Scottsdale: RF Julio Pena: 2 for 4, HR, 2B

Scottsdale: SP Michael Santos: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 HB

Pena homered and doubled.  Murray and Arenado also had two hits each.

Santos was noted in the regular season for his statistical consistency, but this playoff start may have been his best start this year.
